Parent Student Involvement

Wal-Mart Grants for Volunteers Information


Jefferson PTO has the following volunteer needs. If you can help, please contact the school and you will be directed to the appropriate person.


Book Fair
– Help to set up or tear down book displays, work as a cashier or help the kids make their wish lists.  This takes place the week before and during Open House (Mornings and/or evenings).  This is a kid friendly event.

 

Box Tops – Help count box tops collected.  This is a fundraiser for our school.  (Once a month for about 1 hour, kid friendly)

 

Christmas Baskets – Bag and distribute collected food from our food drive. (One morning in early December for about 2-3 hours, kid friendly event)

 

Carnival – Help committee organize and play the carnival, set up games, decorate, prepare and serve food.  The opportunities are endless!!!  Carnival is in February.

 

Directory – Help bind the Jefferson School Directory.  Only happens one morning in September.  This takes about 3 –4 hours at school.

 

Health Walk – This is during 2 lunch periods in the fall and spring on good weather days.  Watch kids walk a path and punch their card after each lap. 

 

Laugh Olympics – Help at school organizing games or popping popcorn.  You can work all day or just a few hours.  The event is usually held the last week of school. This is a kid friendly event.

 

Library Helper – Volunteer to work one day a week for ½ - 1 hour in the library checking books in and out and re-shelving books.  You can even work your child’s time slot.  This is a kid friendly event.

 

Magazine Sales – Take the kids order forms and money during the morning hours of school of collection days.  Usually the 2nd or 3rd week of school (1-2 hours)

 

Market Day – Need helpers each month on pickup day (usually Thursday) to organize and distribute orders. (2 hours each month in the evening, kid friendly event)

 

Picture Person – Go to your child’s grade to introduce them to famous works of art and artists.  Teach basic elements of art and do a simple project.  All information and materials are provided for you.  No art experience necessary!  (Once a month, 1 hr per class)

 

Popcorn Sales – Help pop the popcorn and deliver it to the classes.  If you have younger children this is a kid friendly event.  (One Friday a month for 1-2 hours during school)

 

Pumpkin Festival Clean Up – Help pick up trash on school grounds in the morning during the Pumpkin Festival (1 – 2 hr).  Gloves and garbage bags are provided.

 

Teacher Appreciation – Serve food and drink for different occasions – teacher luncheons, open house, programs, etc.  (Some mornings/ some evenings)

 

Welcome Wagon – Welcome new families to Jefferson Grade School by delivering a welcome packet and being available to answer questions.  (Time commitment varies).
