Mrs. Katrina Fitzpatrick

The Morton 6th Grade Band is open to 6th grade students in Jefferson, Grundy, Lettie Brown, and Lincoln Elementary Schools (no previous music experience required).   Registration for 6th Grade Band is held in September.  Previous to registration, students will have the opportunity to “try-out” the instruments to see which one best fits them.  Beginning band instruments are – flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, trombone, baritone, and percussion.  Full band practices are Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 7:40 - 8:15am in the MJHS band room.   An additional percussion practice is held Wednesday from 3:10 – 3:40pm.  Woodwind and brass players received a small group pull-out once a week.  Annual 6th grade band performances include the Band Christmas Concert, Dunlap Invitational Contest, Arts in the Park, and the Awards Concert.
